My Top Ten
As the new year is now just days away many magazines, TV shows, even bloggers are putting together their top ten lists for 2007. Since I just decided that I should have an update for this Friday I’m going to share my top ten Edubloggers of 2007. Some will make you laugh, some will make you think, and hopefully some will make you raise an eyebrow, but that’s the point. These blogs are not only my top ten for 2007, they are also part of my network, a network I created so that I can continue my learning even if I’m not sitting in a classroom. If any of these writers pique your interest make sure to visit their website weekly for more updates.
They are (in no particular order):
- Weblogg-ED - a former High School Journalism teacher reflects on how changes in technology can make a difference in the classroom.
- 2 Cents Worth - a former Social Studies teacher, David Warlick shares information on what literacy means in today’s context.
- Blue Skunk Blog - Doug Johnson, a librarian in Minnesota shares his opinion on topics such as leadership, libraries, and student technology.
- Dangerously Irrelevant - Dr. Scott McLeod shares his insight on education today, and how he thinks we can make it better.
- Practical Theory - Chris Lehman is a Principal in Philadelphia at an intriguing new school called the Science and Leadership Academy. They are currently in year two of operation.
- Ideas and Thoughts from an Ed Tech - Dean Shareski offers up questions like this…
- The Thinking Stick - Jeff Utecht is currently in Shanghai, China, and shares examples of his work at the American school in Shanghai.
- Cog Dog Blog - Alan Levine works for the New Media Consortium and shares his thoughts on Instructional Technology.
- Learning is Messy - Brian Crosby is a (I believe 4th/5th) teacher in Nevada and he shares his daily successes and struggles with technology and learning. He started a 1:1 laptop program in his class using older MacBooks, and has successfully integrated Skype in his classroom to work with a student dealing with Leukemia.
- The Fischbowl - Have you seen the video Did you know?/Shift Happens? How about 2020? Karl Fisch knows how to put together a thought provoking video, and he also shares his triumphs and struggles at Arapaho High School in Colorado.
I hope you take the time to read a few entries, or watch a few videos. Have a great new year!
