High School Science Addition Update
In mid January approval was received from the state agencies that regulate school construction projects to begin work on the addition to the high school for new science facilities. However, due to warm weather and heavy rains that had just occurred, the ground was too wet to allow excavation to begin at that time.
Since then we have met with our general contractor and decided that construction will begin on March 1. This decision should reduce our cost as it's projected that none of the significant "winter allowance" portion of our budget will have to be used if the month of February, which due to weather conditions is a difficult time of the year to begin a project, is avoided. Also, all of the permits needed to complete the job should be received by March.
Our general contractor feels that the project should be finished some time in August despite this later start. There has been a significant amount of mechanical work in the high school "tunnels" that had to be done before the project could start. Materials needed for the job have already been obtained or are ordered. So construction is projected to be done at a brisk pace.
Please pray for God's blessings on those will be working on our facility. Also pray that the capital campaign which is raising funds to both pay for this building and reduce our previous capital debt will continue to enjoy the success that has been achieved up to this point.
